Imagine a safe place where seniors gather to share experiences, nurture friendships, and feel less alone. The Mission YMCA provides this space for its senior members. My connection to the Mission Y is through my mom, Clara, a long time member. Her friends at the Y are loyal, fun loving and always ready with a smile or a helping hand. They light up the room!
Having spent time with many members, it is inspiring to hear everyone's unique story. Where are they from? What is their favorite activity? Who likes to dance? Everyone has a story.
The Mission Y just launched a new intergenerational program where youth and senior members spend time together and share their stories. Participants' feedback has been overwhelmingly positive!
